Spectral and Radiometric calibration of the Advanced Land Imager

چکیده
Calibration of spectral and radiometric measurements of the Advanced Land Imager (ALI) is a critical element of its land-sensing mission. Without initial ground-based and subsequent on-orbit standardization, the data cannot be reliably used for the intricate analysis of atmospheric conditions and complex surface regions. Daily, weekly, and monthly recertification steps are taken to recalibrate the instrument for any spectral or radiometric fluctuations or drift. Ground calibration of the ALI occurred from September 1998 through January 1999 at Lincoln Laboratory [1–4]. In this article, we outline the techniques adopted during the ground-based spectral and radiometric calibration of the ALI and present results derived from subsystemand system-level measurements. Results from on-orbit calibration and testing are also presented and compared with the ground-based data.

Radiometric Calibration Pipeline for the EO-1 Advanced Land Imager
This paper covers the design and initial performance analysis of the radiometric calibration pipeline software for the EO-1 Advanced Land Imager (EO-1). The design and implementation of the software and of the radiometric calibration database are discussed. Radiometric calibration data were gathered in the laboratory during integration and test and were used for initializing the database. This ...
متن کاملImager-to-radiometer in-flight cross calibration: RSP radiometric comparison with airborne and satellite sensors
This work develops a method to compare the radiometric calibration between a radiometer and imagers hosted on aircraft and satellites. The radiometer is the airborne Research Scanning Polarimeter (RSP), which takes multi-angle, photo-polarimetric measurements in several spectral channels. The RSP measurements used in this work were coincident with measurements made by the Airborne Visible/Infra...
متن کاملRadiometric Processing and Calibration of Eo-1 Advanced Land Imager Data
A radiometric and geometric processing system has been developed as part of the Advanced Land Image(r) Assessment System (ALIAS). A derivative of the ALIAS processing system has also been implemented operationally at EROS to generate Advanced Land Imager (ALI) Level 1 radiometrically and geometrically corrected data products. This system replaces the “calibration pipeline” previously used to ge...
متن کاملFirst in-Flight Radiometric Calibration of MUX and WFI on-Board CBERS-4
Brazil and China have a long-term joint space based sensor program called China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS). The most recent satellite of this program (CBERS-4) was successfully launched on 7 December 2014. This work describes a complete procedure, along with the associated uncertainties, used to calculate the in-flight absolute calibration coefficients for the sensors Multispectra...
متن کاملSentinel-2 MSI Radiometric Characterization and Cross-Calibration with Landsat-8 OLI
Near-nadir observations by the Multispectral Instrument (MSI) onboard the Sentinel-2 and the Operational Land Imager (OLI) onboard Landsat 8 were collected during two Simultaneous Nadir Overpasses (SNO). Multispectral images with 10, 20, and 30 m resolution from a spatially uniform area in the Saharan desert were acquired for direct comparison of MSI and OLI TopOf-Atmosphere (TOA) reflectances....
